Hi Thomas Paul. Yes, Wifi can easily be obstructed by concrete or dense foliage. That is why we designed the Mesh Potato as an outdoor device to be mounted as high up as possible to avoid possible obstructions. With clear line of sight you can easily get 400m between Mesh Potatoes. If you want to go further, you can integrate a WiFi device with a directional antenna to cover several kilometres point to point. Ubiquiti (http://ubnt.com/nanostation) make great gear that serves this purpose well. For powering a Mesh Potato via solar, we are currently looking at BBOXX (http://www.bboxx.co.uk/), a UK startup that make solar solutions that we think might integrate well with Village Telco. We're about to start testing their BB12 (http://www.bboxx.co.uk/content/products) product.

Hello! Super work on the mesh potatoes. Is there some more technical data about them? I'm particularly interested in their range. Where I live the range of my TP Link router is just from one side of the house to the other and not even quite, so I'm imagining the houses to have to be really close to each other for the mesh to work...? And is there a way to bridge a gap, like for example a field, where there are no houses? If not, do you also supply/suggest suitable solar adaptors for the ones that have to be in the middle of the field to act as a bridge?

"I’ve tried cellular routers but in the US, at least, the cellular providers don’t forward SIP requests (party poopers)"

Have you tried using a vpn connection from the mesh potatoe to a host on the internet that does forward SIP requests?

Please iam working on puting solar panel on the mesh potato.
I have secured contract assurance with a third world state of over 5 million in population. Their only question is light interuption hence solar panel comes to play in giving this MP a very bright avenue in penetrating third world countries.
I would love to talk with Keith if possible face to face since iam here in Phoenix. I have a couple of MPs here and would love to work with him to actualized this my project in of of the African states.
